OUR PIPES IN IRAQ

Thought I'd send you some pictures of the pipes that I made over here in Iraq the last 6 months. I'm presently assigned as Medical Officer for the 2-27 Infantry Battalion.

I purchased the supplies from PIMO and the inspiration from P&T magazine.

If you notice, the brass pieces I used are the butt end of a .50 caliber round. The bone for the one tamper is carved from a lamb bone that I found on a mission. It has the Battalion mascot, a wolfhound carved on it. I've also used part of a wool Army blanket for the pipe and tamper gloves.

I hope PIMO will post these on your site and PT magazine might mention them and post a picture or two.

Thanks Ginny, thanks to you PIMO I've found a creative outlet over here in Iraq. it helps keep my mind of all the unpleasant things, the stress I have to deal with. I'm the Battalion Surgeon in a remote base and appreciate your courteous and fast service. Each pipe is kind of a memorial to the soldiers we have lost. I've carved 8 and unfortunately I have many more to do.
